The public organization “World of Law” has developed a guideline for lawyers entitled “International and National Mechanisms for the Protection of the Rights of Victims of Torture and Other Cruel, Inhuman or Degrading Treatment or Punishment.”
The guideline was prepared within the framework of the project “Path to Justice: Strengthening Human Rights through the Prevention of Torture and Reform of the Penitentiary System,” implemented with the financial support of the European Union.
The document aims to enhance the professional competence of lawyers and includes:
- an overview of international and national legal mechanisms for the protection of victims’ rights;
- clarifications on the qualification of such offenses;
- practical recommendations for lawyers’ participation in investigative procedures;
- an analysis of the implementation of international obligations by the Republic of Tajikistan;
- as well as sample procedural documents for practical use.
