  • The Public Organization “World of Law” Held a Roundtable on the Results of Monitoring Court Proceedings

On 13 December in Dushanbe, the public organization “World of Law” held a roundtable discussion on the topic: “The State of Implementation of the Principle of Publicity in Court Proceedings – Legislative Innovations and Judicial Practice, and the Consideration of Recommendations Based on the Results of Court Monitoring.”

The participants of the roundtable included representatives of international organizations, the Supreme Court of the Republic of Tajikistan, the Human Rights Ombudsman, the Bar Association of Tajikistan, the Ministry of Justice, and non-governmental organizations.

Judge of the Supreme Court of the Republic of Tajikistan, M. Pulodi, presented amendments and additions introduced to Resolution No. 5 of the Plenum of the Supreme Court of the Republic of Tajikistan dated 29 September 2014, “On Publicity and Openness of Court Proceedings and the Right of Access to Information on Court Activities.”

At the event, legal and gender expert L. Aleksandrova presented information on the new Law of the Republic of Tajikistan “On Access to Judicial Information.” In addition, a review was presented on the implementation of recommendations based on the results of monitoring court proceedings conducted by the PO “World of Law” for the period 2018–2020 in the Republic of Tajikistan.

The roundtable was held within the framework of the project “The Right to a Fair Trial: Analysis of Court Monitoring and Promotion of Developed Recommendations,” funded by the National Endowment for Democracy (NED).
